The Matriarchs: Rebekkah
The Matriarchs: Rebekkah
THE MATRIARCHS
The Matriarchs is a mixed media mono-print triptych depicting the lives and trials of Sarah, Rebekkah, and Rachel and Leah. In each panel, God’s presence is depicted as a protective arc, and references to the next generation’s struggles are present as influenced by each matriarch.
The Matriarchs: Rebekkah
Rebekkah is depicted as the director of this generations’ saga. She is the motivation for the events which take place, including the conflict between her sons, shown in the upper left corner. Isaac’s presence is a symbolic light shining forth from his tent, the opening of which becomes Jacob’s ladder, a reference to his offspring’s future struggles. God’s presence again encircles the grappling figures, while Rebekkah remains outside of its protective realm.
