Illumination Series

Pamela's background in creating illuminated manuscripts has inspired the current Illuminations Series. The stylistic concerns are derived from studies of the decorative arts, which include Islamic page illuminations, tapestries, and Oriental screen painting. Traditional patterns and the influence of calligraphic line become personal iconography in the Illumination Series, in which patterns from fabrics, manuscripts, craft items and architectural sources are combined into contemporary studies of composition and color.
