The Levite's Woman (Judges 19-21)

The unnamed Levite's woman is sent by her husband to a group of wicked men of the tribe of Benjamin as a sexual offering to appease their wrath and to guarantee his protection.  After her death at the Benjamites' hands, the Levite dismembers her body, sending the parts to the tribes of Israel, who then unite in war against the evil Benjamites.  Cutting off the defeated Benjamites from marriage with the daughters of Israel, the tribes encourage them to steal and wed the virgins of Shiloh, so that the tribe of Benjamin may be continued.
