Keturah: Mother of the Generations (Genesis 25)

After the death of Sarah, Abraham marries the young woman Keturah, who tends to him and gives him many children. It is said that her children re-populated the world after the destruction of the Tower of Babel, thus her title as “mother of the generations.” Keturah’s sons are later sent away by Abraham, who sees his covenant with God continuing through the line of only his son, Isaac. Abraham later abandons Keturah to reside in the house of his daughter-in-law Rebekkah.
