Biography

Pamela S. Feldman-Hill has a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree and a Master of Arts Degree in Printmaking from The Ohio State University. Her artwork deals primarily with Jewish themes, and she also creates original Ketubot (Jewish wedding documents) in Hebrew and Aramaic under the name of Pearl Editions. Her background in creating these illuminated manuscripts has inspired her "Illuminations" series, in which she combines patterns from fabrics, manuscripts, craft items and architectural sources from specific cultures into contemporary studies of composition and color.

Feldman-Hill has exhibited her paintings and prints nationally in group and one-woman exhibitions, including a show at the National Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. One of Feldman-Hill's recent paintings has been reproduced by Hallmark Cards for use in their Tree of Life Division as the cover of a Jewish wedding card. Her work is included in many private and public collections, and has been reproduced in several national publications. Much of her inspiration comes from her concern for the State of Israel, and her interest in exploring the culture, theology, and history of Judaism as well as the role of women in Jewish culture. She is listed in the Union of American Hebrew Congregations' Accredited List of Synagogue Artists and Craftspeople.

Feldman-Hill has presented slide lectures across the country on issues related to Jewish art. She is a published author, with several articles and stories appearing in national publications on themes relating to Biblical Women and Jewish art history, including the short story collection Reading Between the Lines: New Stories from the Bible. She has also taught music, dance, art, Hebrew and Jewish studies in various formal and informal educational settings with age groups ranging from pre-schoolers through adults, including courses in art at The Ohio State University and Ohio Dominican College in Columbus, Ohio. Pamela was raised in Toledo, and currently resides near Columbus, Ohio with her husband and daughter.
